Swedish choreographer and performance artist Carima Neusser and Paris-based artist and musician Per Hüttner both have been returning to work in Mexico regularly during the last decade. They have previously presented performances with institutions like Museo Jumex and Museo de Arte Contemporaneo Queretaro. The two artists will return to Mexico in winter 2025-26 to create new work for CDMX Art Week during a 2,5 month residency.

The artists will present one solo performance each. Neusser will act as a hostess in the performance “Cocktail” where she prepares four types of drinks for the audience. Each drink is connected to a specific time period in dance history (e.g the court of Louis XIV, early Russian modernism etc.). As she serves each drink in a choreographic fashion, she will talk in a personal way about the choreographic era and project seductive images that underline her discourse. She will also link the tastes of the drinks to the sensual expression of the dance.

Just like Neusser creates links between taste, image and bodily movements, Huttner creates links between text, sound and the visual. He will present an audio-visual performance, where he uses hypnotic 3D graphics along with his music. Everything merges together to an artistic whole where sound and image interact seamlessly. The music is inspired by three short poems by the Argentinian writer Jorge Luis Borges and focus on our perception of time and the transience of life. Before each piece he will read one of the poems and briefly introduce how he see the relationship between music and poetry.
