Susanne Ewerlöf at Post-residential?

Residency Programs in a Digital Age
Norrköping Air’s director Susanne Everlöf will represent us at the meeting 20-21 October 2015 in Copenhagen.
The residency program in its traditional form has a strong emphasis on physical presence – the presence of the program at a specific place and the physical presence of the artist at this place. But how does a residency program adapt to a world in which physical presence can seem less and less needed? Or is there perhaps more than ever a need to emphasize the importance of locality and site-specificity in a post- internet world?
The influence of the internet has not only changed our societies on a massive scale within the past 20 years – it has also presented challenges to our art institutions and their tropes and traditional forms. What does audience figures mean in an age where art shows can be experienced online? How has social media transformed our way of communicating what we do? How has the speed and availability of information affected the art market? Is the internet really globalizing contemporary art?
“Post-residential? Residency program in a digital age” aims to investigate how the digital development of our culture has impacted the understanding and forms of and need for residency programs.
The meeting will start on Tuesday 20 October with a reception for invited residencies at Overgaden Institute for Contemporary Art at 18:00-21:00. The seminar is held on Wednesday 21 October at 9:30-17:00 at Factory for Art & Design, Copenhagen.
