Talks on Readability and Collecting with Valentina Desideri, Lieven Lahaye, Alina Lupu and Bruno Zhu

Vision Forum is thrilled to announce the last Unfold event of the year before the project’s second installment by guest curators Anna-Sophie Springer and Etienne Turpin will be presented in January.

Devised in collaboration with Anne Dersen and her Workcenter 232 “Such a Nice Unreadable Project!” is an evening mix of words, sounds, and spirits taking place at the premises of the Workcenter 232, a non-profit copy shop and a copy shop residency based in Amsterdam Zuidoost. Both Unfold and the Workcenter 232 investigate in modes of circulation, collaboration and appropriation driven by a curiosity in dysfunctionality, fragmentariness, wandering thoughts and conflated organisms.

On December 3 we will host an evening of conversations on ways of reading, unreading and (de)forming a collection with artists Valentina Desideri, Lieven Lahaye, Alina Lupu and Bruno Zhu. The discussion will touch upon a melting pot of ideas concerning: the arousal of interest and desire, selection, appropriation, arrangement, rearrangement, transgression of borders; the way images get into the web, the way the web get morphed into a book; the way you can misread, misinterpret and break with the completeness and coherency of a body of knowledge.

Unfold

Unfold is a curatorial experimentation on the digital folder to trigger anti-authorial agency, movement of thoughts, untimely collaborations. Re-generated by seven guest curators, Unfold is a library hosting shifting constellations of artistic content, books, found objects and software, both newly commissioned and already existing. Like all libraries, Unfold is a space of copies, copies of copies, appropriations, heterogeneity and contradictions. Unfold is the final outcome of the VOLUME project, a research and artistic project focusing on the concept and agency of the library curated by Sara Giannini in collaboration with 98weeks Research Project (Beirut) and Vision Forum (Stockholm).

The first installment of Unfold is curated by Sara Giannini and is a labyrinthine structure turning The Arcades Project by Walter Benjamin into a library of folders hosting reminiscences of the VOLUME project. These diverse voices are interpolated hoping that their memory and different stimulations may channel into one another. With contributions by Mounira Al Solh, Stefanie Baumann, Andrew Beccone, Nadia Bou Ali, Pauline Curnier Jardin, Aldis Ellersdóttir Hóff, Per Hüttner, Sami Khatib, Marcell Mars, RYBN.ORG, Walid Sadek (& more…)
